K Vishwanath is the winner of five National Awards National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment – Sankarabharanam in 1980, Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration – Saptapadi in 1982, Best Feature Film in Telugu – Swati Mutyam in 1987, Best Feature Film in Telugu – Sutradharulu in 1990 and Best Feature Film in Telugu – Swarabhishekam 2005.
Two important international honours bestowed upon him were the Prize of the Public at the Besancon Film Festival of France for Sankarabharanam in 1981 and the Gulf Andhra Award for Life Time Achievement in cinema at Dubai, U.A.E in 2014.
Apart from this he had received a host of other awards including the Nandi Award and Filmfare.
